This was the first painting I ever created on canvas. It was a special experience, because Lake Balaton was constantly on my mind while I was working. For me, this place represents my childhood and a deep sense of calm—the feeling of floating on the water, looking up at the sky, as everything inside me grows quiet.

I chose the colors with this in mind. Blues and greens represent the depth of the water and the sense of calm I feel only there. The orange, rust-like marks are like flashes of sunlight or old memories that suddenly surface. The white areas are like light shimmering on rippling water, or perhaps thoughts that briefly touch and then fade away.
